It sounded like a herd of Elephants stampeding the Orange County Convention Center! Really, it was the more than 5,000 teenagers and their youth leaders descending upon us for a week of worship, growth and service. These kids had to save for months and sacrifice a lot to make the journey to Orlando for the International Youth Convention, but these students were challenged and motivated to make a difference in their world.
We really didn’t know what to expect when we arrived on site, but we quickly learned that these students are PASSIONATE about many things! They are PASSIONATE about going the distance to share the story of Jesus, they are PASSIONATE about serving others and they are PASSIONATE about t-shirts! It was such an honor to provide the apparel for the students this year and we look forward to working together again! One of the highlights was setting up a packaging event for 1,200 students to join together and package meals for Haiti through Change This World.
As a group they packaged over 60,000 meals for children and their families in Haiti!
Change This World was able to sell shirts for a donation of $20- that donation provided meals for sixty children! As soon as word got out they could purchase a shirt and make a difference, there wasn’t anything stopping the momentum! It was like a whirlwind flying through the convention center! Truly remarkable to watch these students step up to the call to do SOMETHING about the hunger issue in our world. We really can Change This World!
Over all, it was such a great experience for us to connect with so many youth pastors and their students. We can’t wait to continue the conversation over the next few months and hear all about what God is continuing to do through your student ministries!
